American Samoa*
Online Application Form

Part of the United States of America, American Samoa is an unincorporated land and is situated in the South Pacific Ocean. American Samoa is just southeast of the larger island Samoa which is an independent state and was formerly known as Western Samoa. The island is also located west of the Cook Islands. American Samoa is part of the Samoan Islands chain and the most inhabited and main area of American Samoa is the island is Tutuila. There is another island called Swains Island which is considered part of its jurisdiction as well as others.

According to the 2010 census approximately over 55,000 inhabitants call home to the island at a size that is just larger than the United States district capital, Washington, D. C.

This island boasts to be one of the southernmost regions that belong to the United States.

American Samoans born on the island and likewise those that are born on Swains Island are considered to be American nationals. However, they are not afforded American citizenship. To be an American citizen one of the person’s parents needs to be a U.S. citizen. Even being American nationals, American Samoans actually cannot vote in the United States to elect a president.

All American Samoans, however, are granted unobstructed entry into the United States of America.

History and documentation

American Samoa is a group of six Polynesian islands in the South Pacific. American Samoa is an immensely underrated tropical destination that will delight you with its magnificent mountain ridges, peaceful bays, little villages, reefs and beaches. It is a majestic destination where people of all ages can spend unforgettable vacations, special marriages and honeymoons. Also, one can spend a weekend with family, relatives and friends as well as loved ones. The island is an especially great area for tourism and the hotel business industry.

Thankfully American Samoa is a signatory land and honors the Hague Convention of 1961; therefore, there are procedures that allow for a uniform process for special documentation. This uniformity should ease the document process greatly. This process is known as Apostille and this type of legalization or certification is used for countries that are party to the Hague Convention.

Authorities from the Samoa do not have specific requirements for those who want to get married or for those who are willing to establish new businesses. The only requirement is an Apostille certification on government or notarized documents. With couples that are going through a wedding ceremony there is one demand: submission of a “no record of marriage certificate” or “single status affidavit” along with an Apostille affixed to it. Translation is not required unless the original document has been executed in a foreign language. The same applies for corporate documents that need to be certified by the proper authorities.
